What Is Soft Washing?

A method of cleaning and restoring various substrates and surfaces, typically on the exterior of a home or building is called soft washing.

Although soft washing has been further developed into a viable option for cleaning and restoring many other surfaces around the home or office building, in the 1980's this method of cleaning was created in Florida as a new and more effective way to clean asphalt shingled roofs. Similar data about this are disclosed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roof_cleaning. When being used on asphalt shingled roofs, soft washing was created as a way to get rid of the many problems that came along with power washing equipment and machinery. It would cause the small limestone particles in them to break off, when people would power wash their shingles, which would then clog the gutter system of the house and lead to a premature failure of the roofing system.

This soft washing system, which is an eco-friendly solution that began as a way to loosen the green and black algae, lichen, moss and general grime and dirt from the shingles, which made it not as necessary to have to use a potentially harmful power washing machine. After news of this pioneering, eco-friendly and not so destructive means of cleaning reached across the country and throughout the world, it became, not only the recommended cleaning source for asphalt shingles, but also for things like vinyl and aluminum siding, gutters and downspouts, bricks, sandstone, limestone, wood and decking materials and some concrete materials. You might also like to know that it is also much more effective at treating and killing off the microorganisms that thrive on porous substrates and it is safe for the environment. It is so effective because a special blend of cleaning agent is applied to the substrate being cleaned and adequate time is given so the microorganisms such as moss, algae, mold and mildew are effectively killed off deep inside of the porous material. Hence, power washing will never be able to do this.

A low pressure rinse can then be applied, once adequate time has been given to kill off the microorganisms, to get rid of the solution and dead spores. When using this Low Pressure Roof Cleaning Sarasota method of cleaning surfaces, you should know that it eliminates the potential for unneeded damage, stops the future growth of algae, moss and other microorganisms, is not toxic and is environmentally friendly.

If you fast forward to today, soft washing is the preferred method of cleaning surfaces for homeowners and building owners alike, since it is so effective at doing the work of a power washing machine and so much more, without having to power wash.
